Not only does Downtown Houston, Texas house many renowned companies; it is home to many fine establishments including, restaurants, clubs, bars, the Theatre District, and two of Houston’s famous professional sports teams. The Houston Rockets home; the Toyota Center is on the East side of Downtown while the Houston Astros home lies near the Warehouse District. And with the creation of the Metro Light Rail, commuters can travel from the North side of Downtown all the way South; towards the Texas Medical Center. The area contains many immense skyscrapers, including the old Enron building which represents one of the largest corporate failures in the last decade. Chevron ultimately purchased the building; and moved many of its employees here from Louisiana and California. On an interesting note; many people do not know that there is a vast network of tunnels and pedestrian walkways that lie underneath and connect many of the buildings. In these tunnels lie restaurants and many shops. Downtown is also home to the South Texas School of Law; a premier law school, which is across the street from the Toyota Center.

The Houston Theatre District is second only to New York in terms of the number of seats in a Downtown area. The Houston Ballet, Symphony, and The Alley Theater, are all located on the West side of Downtown. Just across the street lies the Verizon Wireless Theatre which is home to several concerts and special events each month. And a number of other concert venues, bars, and clubs line Main Street (a well trafficked street in Downtownt) hich attracts many visitors weekly.

Downtown Houston is also home to many renovated lofts and apartment buildings. The East side of Downtown Houston is known as the Warehouse District and was formerly an industrial zone. Today, it is home to lofts, bars and other entertaining nightlife. Lofts at The Ballpark; is one of the newer loft apartment communities in the Warehouse District today. Its floors are composed of stained concrete and it is more of a “soft loft”. This simply means that the bedroom is closed off from the living room.
